In which situation is it illegal to pass another vehicle on the right?

Under no circumstances may you leave the roadway to pass another vehicle. Only pass on the right where it is safe and legal to do so.

• The vehicle you are overtaking is driving below the speed limit and you must use the shoulder of the road to pass.
• You are on a two-lane, one-way road and the vehicle you are overtaking has stalled.
• You are on a multilane highway and the vehicle you are overtaking is driving below the speed limit.
• You are on a two-lane, two-way road and the vehicle you are overtaking is turning left.
